About
130 km north of Kanchanaburi is Si Sawat district. It is located
at Highway 3199 and has many natural attractions. It is well known
for its beautiful waterfalls, national
parks and the dam. Travelling to some attractions here is sometimes
more difficult as elsewhere. Some attractions can only be visited
by boat or 4-wheel-drive in the dry season.

Huay Mae Khamin Waterfalls
The
Huay Mae Khamin Waterfalls are located near the Sri Nakharin lakeside
about 110 km from Kanchanaburi and 50 km from the Erawan
Falls.
You can go there by boat from Ban Tha Kradan or
4-wheel drive.

Erawan Waterfalls
These
famous 7-tiered waterfalls are located in the Erawan
National Park which is 65 km from Kanchanaburi on Highway 3199.
The falls are situated amongst rough jungle and are truly one of
the most beautiful falls in Asia. You can follow a trekking path
inside the national park or stay overnight.

Sri Nakarin Dam
Kanchanaburi produces 41 percent of the electrical energy used in
Thailand. It is produced by freshwater resources mainly from Sri
Nakarin and Khao Lam Dam. Sri Nakarin Dam is about 3 km north of
the Erawan Falls and about 68 km from town. The Sri Nakarin Lake
offers fishing, luxurious raft hotels, weekend boat tours and watersports.
It is surrounded by the Sri
Nakarin National Park.

Pra That Cave
Pra That Cave is about 75 km from Kanchanaburi town and 10 km further
north of the Erawan Falls on a dirt road to
the Huay Mae Khamin Falls. It is situated in
the Erawan National Park.
Inside the cave are beautiful stalactites and stalagmites
distributed among 4 big rooms. Bats also used to live inside but
the rooms are high enough that they don't disturb you.

Tham Than Lot Cave

The Tham Than Lot Noi and the Tham
Than Lot Yai Cave are both inside the Chalerm
Rattana Kosin National Park. Which is located about 98 km from
Kanchanaburi town north of Bo Phloi. A 5 km long beautiful
trekking path brings you from the small
cave (Tham Than Lot Noi) up the mountain to the big cave (Tham Than
Lot Yai) and even on top of the big cave. While trekking to the
big cave you are passing beautiful big trees in a dense jungle.
The
trekking path leads you along the three-stepped Trai
Trueng Waterfall. The waterfall gives you the opportunity
to refresh yourself.
You
can stay over night at Khao Lek
Village which is a Karen hilltribe village
inside the jungle of the National Park. You stay in an idyllic tree
house for about 200 THB per person. It is a nice feeling in morning
hours waking up listening to the sounds of the jungle. It is recommended
to go there with a 4-wheel car and an organized tour from a travel
agency because it could be a logistic problem to bring there
food and beverages. You have to bring and prepare your food by yourself.
To go there by car or motorbike follow
highway 3086 to Ban Nong Pru and from there turn left to
highway 3480 leading to the Chalerm
Rattana Kosin National Park.
